Bite Night

Summary:

Framing the moment of terror as performance, this shoot emphasizes the physicality of screaming, grasping, and confronting a snake.the lighting strategy-a single concentrated beam against the otherwise dark setting-builds suspense by focusing the viewer’s gaze entirely on the subject’s expressons. This tenion between spotlight and shaow mirrors the uncertainty of being trapped in a nightmare, caught between comedy and horror.

ThrouhMy Own Lens

Summary:

This portrait captues a reflective moment, blending personal presence with the essence of Traverse City. The layered background illustration adds a dreamlike quality, symbolizing how identity is shaped by both inner thought and environment. The upward gaze suggests hope, determination, and vision for the future, while the soft lighting highlights strength.

Submerged Strokes

Summary;

This photograph captures the quiet moment of a brush immersed in water, its bristles fanning out in a soft, painterly blur. The surrounding liquid creates a dreamlike distortion, with bubbles and ripples adding texture and movement to the stillness. The interplay of light and color transforms the simple act of cleaning a brush into an abstract scene that blurs the line between painting and photography, turning an everyday gesture into a piece of art.

A Child’s Silence

Summary:

This piece reflects the unspoken pain of my childhood—a time when my feelings were often dismissed, and my voice felt invisible. The child in the foreground represents my younger self, carrying sadness and frustration, while the figure walking away symbolizes the emotional distance between me and my mom. By capturing this moment of silence, the work explores how children can be deeply affected when they are unheard, and how those memories linger into adulthood. It speaks to the weight of being silenced and the longing for understanding, love, and acknowledgment.

Becoming Barbie

Summary:

This digital artwork reimagines Barbie as a reflection of personal identity and self-love. By photographing a Barbie doll that resembles me and merging it into the iconic Barbie logo, I transform the brand’s universal symbol into something deeply individual. The piece celebrates the way Barbie has inspired imagination and empowerment while also exploring how I see myself within her world. It’s both playful and personal—a statement about identity, representation, and embracing who I am.

Western Spirt in pink

Summary:

This graphic design piece is a stylized self-portrait that blends modern minimalism with classic western flair. By using bold blocks of color and clean outlines, it captures the confidence and individuality of western style while placing it against a playful pink backdrop. The extended arm and crossed stance suggest openness, balance, and self-assurance—qualities tied to both personal identity and the free-spirited energy of western fashion. This work celebrates the fusion of self-expression and cultural influence, highlighting how western style can be reimagined in a fresh, contemporary way.

Inside the Plastic Smile

Summary:

This project reimagines Barbie as a life-sized reflection of my own identity and the realities women often keep hidden behind a smile. I created two dolls—one plus-size and one with hearing aids—to challenge the narrow standards of beauty and perfection that Barbie has traditionally represented. By intentionally avoiding the polished, “classic” Barbie look, I wanted to show the struggles, insecurities, and resilience that live beneath the surface. Through sewing, painting, and upcycling clothing, I explored not only how to construct these figures, but also how to deconstruct unrealistic ideals. This work reveals the raw and personal truths of what it means to live inside a world that expects perfection while silencing what women carry within.

Legend in Uniform

Summary:
This photograph captures my grandfather during his college football years, dressed proudly in his uniform. Shot on film, it preserves not only the texture and tones of the era but also the spirit of dedication, tradition, and youthful determination. The image serves as both a family keepsake and a piece of sports history, linking personal heritage with the timeless passion of the game.
